My name is Cara Eccleston and I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. First and foremost, I am a 27 year old, single mother of two amazing and unbelievably magnificent children. Currently, I have a BA in English with a concentration in Language Studies and a Certificate of Technical Communication from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. As is required by my degree in Language Studies, I interned for the brilliant Dr. Tracy Bridgeford in the summer of 2010 which she then extended until my graduation. What an honor! And, then through grad school. She has become my mentor, friend, and idol.

My internship thus far has focused on the editing and design of the Annual Proceedings for the Committee On Programs in Technical and Scientific Communication as well as the layout and production of the Programmatic Perspectives Journal for CPTSC. I also had the thrill of copy editing a book for Tracy and her Colleagues.

This website is to reach out to those who are looking for a fresh young voice. Poetry was my passion initially. I would simply scribble my thoughts into lyrical form to release the pent up grief and frustration that frequently overcame my being. Throughout elementary, middle, and high school, I wrote essays, read endless quantities of books, and studied Journalism. I attempted community college following my high school graduation, but found myself hopelessly and relentlessly rebellious, eventually quitting. Little did I know, my problem was my lack of intellectual stimulation and abundance of naivety.

Walk with me...

After the birth of my son, Anthony, and some unfortunate mishaps I preset to you here, I decided it was time to grow up and use my intellect and ambition to propel me forward, this time at UNO. With the support two professors who believed in my competence, Jody Keisner (my professor and friend who recommended me to Dr. Bridgeford, my mentor and idol), I am now achieving my dream, pushing myself to the limits and soaring higher than I had ever thought possible. Here, I present to you, my audience, personally selected creative nonfiction pieces, technical documents, rhetorical essays and poetry from my heart to yours.
